Rain Rain Go Away.....

   Rain Rain Go Away,
Come Again Another Day,
S and M Want To Play..
(Not the pornographic S and M sillies, I meant Sara and Morgan!!)
    (Perverts...)

Fact(S) Of The Day: Hurricane Ivan was the last hurricane that really 'rocked' the Caymen Islands.
('rocked' = severely damaged / hit hard / reeked havoc / ) It struck in 2006 and
hurt not only the physical aspect of the Island but the financial one as well.
When it rains a lot the air smells like mildew. (Wet dog, funk, Sweat (ew) )

B/ I T (That stands for Bug/ Insect Trivia .....MUST I explain everything??)

Q: What is the worst thing you can do if you come int contact with a Large Spider in your house?
A: Step on it. Why you ask? Well tonight I head a story about someone who did just that and then
spend the next week killing all of the 1,000 BABY spiders that sprang out as their mother was
being squished.  Uhhpphhh (Thats the sound of me shuddering at the thought.)

Q: What predatory anthropod would you least except to see in the Grand Caymen?
A: A Scorpion! (Well at least it wasnt one that I would expect to see! And NO I had no idea that
it was classified as a 'predatory anthropod'. I wikipedia'd it. ) AND it was Hurricane
Ivan that rose the sea water level and drove them inland, into peoples yards and
                          sometime into their homes!

(And YES, obv I looked that one up also)

(So my intention was to find a picture of an angry looking scorpion (on the internet) to make YOU shudder, and I came across this CRAZY woman. Is she serious with that? I cant even look at it anymore...)

Q: What kind of the bug was it that bit me?
                 a) Sand fly (also known as a 'no-seeum')
                 b) Mosquito (One of the THIRTY-SIX different kinds that inhabit the Caymens)
                 c) A Prehistoric Dinosaur Devil bug with fangs for days

A: Im guessing C, but I DONT care. IF I find out who you are I will torture you for eternity..

(Don't judge my painfully white leg (Gimmie a break I haven't even been here for 2 weeks yet!)
BUT SERIOUSLY...look at that thing? And it gets bigger everyday! (Don't worry, anyone who knows me knows that I am a slight hypochondriac (not without reason) and already got a few opinions on my survival rate, and they ALL replied "You'll be fine,  Welcome to Caymen Sara!")

So today was pretty rainy, I guess thats what you'd expect to see during rainy season. We haven't been hit with any hurricanes yet, (Knock on Wood...seriously Im superstitious..do it) but still have effects from the tropical storm. Normally Id welcome a break from the harsh sun but now everythings just damp and stinky.  Also makes it difficult to take pictures...(boo)

But I got a few...I thought it would be appropriate to show the NEW vehicle we got to take us to work, its especially effective in the rain and wind, that of which we are experiencing right now. [SIDENOTE, Im not really sure when to use Effecting and when to use Affecting...wait no maybe I get it now..yeah I get it...nevermind..sorry..unless Im using them wrong then someone please tell me (Kim G)]

Anyway HERE it is!!  (Joanne were gunna pick you up from the airport in it!!)
JUST KIDDING.....I don't know what it is really..well I know its some type of vintage submarine..well it might not even BE vintage...I don't know..There was no sign. All I know is that it was BRIGHT yellow and pretty much EVERYTHING that is bright yellow is worth mentioning. (flowers, candy, Rubber Duckies)

And then I saw the Caymen Island phone booth.  Never have I seen a phone booth that takes ONLY credit and debit cards...The Cyamenians (sp) really are ahead of the times....(except that the Phone Sign was installed in 1845)

We found all these things as we were searching for Non-Slip shoes for Morgan who has been
slip-slidding across the restaurants floor since we got here. After we found him some new SAFE shoes
we started walking 'back' to the main road. (Which means we got slightly turned around.)(Which means we got lost for a hot minute.) Which was good and bad. It was good because I was able to see my FIRST Caymen hedge. (It was bad because we were lost...DUHH!!)

'Not that interesting' you say? Well when you grow up cleaning away hedge brush that has THORNS in it and prickly branches and leaves, (and sometimes hidden poison ivy) it is NICE to know that somewhere, someone doesn't mind having to trim their hedges. Also if I had a PALM tree growing out of ours, it probably would have at least been more interesting.(Mostly because we would be the ONLY people in Brewster, NY who had a live palm tree in our yard.)

        What else, what else...
OHHHHHHH I forgot to tell EVERYONE I know that after three years of working as an 'assistant photographer' I FINALLY got one (a picture..obv) up in the window...(my boss teases the people who take pictures of the window..and now Im one of them, and DAMN proud!)

(Zoom In)

(Zoom in MORE)

                                                                   (Ahh....... perfect)

There is a little glare on it (and that is a reflection of the power lines across the street on the bottom left) But you get the picture. (Hey thats kinda funny)(Get it? Huh? Do you Get it?)(because we are talking about an ACTUAL picture!!) Ok moving on...

I apologized for the shortage of pictures today but rain and electronics don't really mix and if I had to buy a new camera down here it'd probably cost me 40,000CI (no really electronics are REDIC expensive here...blackberries go for 600CI..about 750US)(Craziness)
Oh but I do have a new category for you...

Random Pic Of The Day: (Sheesh this color is OFFENSIVE)

I actually found this as I was cleaning out my photos yesterday. It was taken about 5 years ago in a 24 hour Walmart in Poughkeepsie, NY. I had not idea that a product like this existed, but marveled in its cleverness. If I was bald I would DEF purchase it. Perhaps buy stock in the company...who knows...

    K. Im done. Going to see the Turtles tomorrow!!

Ciao....
